Advocacy
Our core focus is advocacy on behalf of our member companies. We make sure our member’s interests are front and center on any insurance decision whether in the legislature or an executive branch agency.

The Minnesota Legislature convenes each odd numbered year in January. During even-numbered years, it varies, but generally begins sometime between late January and early March. In all years, they are constitutionally required to adjourn in mid-May.
When the Legislature is in session, we are a constant presence around the Capitol. We are always working and meeting with legislators and staff to inform and update them on bills that impact the insurance industry. When bills are heard in committee, we routinely provide relevant and impactful testimony to help legislators make a decision.

We are in regular contact with commissioners and staff at the Minnesota Department of Commerce, the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry, along with other agencies.
These relationships allow us to hear from them on changes they are looking to pursue as well as being a resource when they have questions. This open communication allows us to advocate on behalf of member companies when they have issues or questions with the Department.
We also schedule meetings with the Department on pressing issues in which only members are invited to participate.

This list will be used to notify you of important developments happening with insurance at the State Capitol.
There is no better time to begin developing a relationship with your legislator. Reach out to them and let them know you are a constituent who cares about insurance. Then when the time comes, they will already have an idea of who you are.

The IFPAC exists to help elect candidates to office who support or are likely to support the growth and continued success of the insurance industry in Minnesota.
The IFPAC allows us to pool individual contributions from our members and give them to legislators on both sides of the aisle who support us.
The IFPAC would not be possible without people like you. If you have questions about giving or how to get started, please reach out!
