Aaron Cocking - President & CEO 

Aaron Cocking joined the Insurance Federation of Minnesota (IFM) as Executive Vice President in September 2019 after serving as President & CEO of the Minnesota Association of Farm Mutual Insurance Companies (MAFMIC) since 2014. He was named IFM President & CEO in June 2020.

A native of Marshalltown, Iowa, Aaron graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in public administration.

Aaron began his career at the Minnesota Legislature on the very bottom rung—as a session-only page. From there, he held a variety of roles in and around the Legislature before becoming Committee Administrator for the Senate Commerce Committee in 2011, where he worked extensively on insurance and other issues under the committee’s jurisdiction. He left the Senate in 2012 to join MAFMIC as Director of Government Affairs and was named the organization’s President & CEO two years later.

Throughout his career, Aaron has worked closely with policymakers, regulators, and insurance industry leaders on issues affecting Minnesota’s property and casualty insurance market. As President & CEO of IFM, he leads the organization’s advocacy efforts at the State Capitol and represents Minnesota insurers before the Legislature, state agencies, and other stakeholders.

Aaron is an avid golfer working his way through America’s top 100 public golf courses. He and his wife, Kristie, are recent empty nesters and live on an 18-acre hobby farm in Independence, Minnesota.

We are a non-profit state insurance trade association representing companies and related organizations that write most property/casualty insurance in Minnesota. 

Founded in 1914 to help insurers deal with the Minnesota State Legislature on issues related to the state’s workers’ compensation insurance program.  Since then, we have been the leading advocate and resource for insurance in Minnesota.   

Based in Bloomington, Minnesota, we represent companies with many different lines of insurance including auto, business, commercial, homeowners’, reinsurance, renters’, and workers’ compensation.  We are pleased to have both stock and mutual companies amongst our membership. 

Today, we continue to act as an advocate for insurance companies and their policyholders at the Minnesota Legislature and with the state’s insurance regulatory agency - the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
